Origami Project
Not related to the paper foldings here, but Microsoft is set to launch a new portable device, code named Origami. What is it actually? No one knows for sure. Check out this mysterious Origami Project website, where the Origami unfolds slowly in 3 weeks.
DigitalKitchen has an ad campaign on it. Enter their Flash-based website, click Work, followed by BrandTheatre, select Microsoft Origami, and voila! Watch the marketing video!

Brauhaus Restaurant and Pub
Brauhaus Restaurant and Pub is one of my favourite sinful food place! Basically it is a place where you can get all sorts of beers from all over the world. There are beers of all favours (like banana beer :P) and beers from a lot of countries.
The food is great. There are all sorts of sausages (with very good mustard to go with it,) pig knuckles in half, whole and pieces :d and other interesting delicacies like crocodile steak and pig knuckle beehoon.
That is not all! There is live music and singing by a very talented uncle (who happen to sing great birthday song! :P). There are lots of TVs for soccer fans to watch men in shorts chase after a ball. There is also a pool table outside too!

Microsoft Partner Tech Day
I attended the abovementioned event today and I must say I am deeply disappointed. It sucks. Well, not totally, but enough to turn me off.
First of all, it is a Partner Tech Day, so by right they should be trying to sell us partners why we should build our product based on the next generation Microsoft technologies due out later this year. Instead they gave us lots of technical introductions on how to do this and that using their beta and CTP builts of this and that. Hey! Shouldn't they be telling us why we should risk building my product based on new unproven technologies that Microsoft is going to introduce and how do I convince my customers that it is the right things to use? Come on, Microsoft does not have the best of reputation when it comes to producing top-notch problem-free products.
Second, their demos suck! Most of their demos don't even run properly. Some demos outright does not work at all. Given that some of these are based on betas or CTP code base, total failure of the demo is simply unforgivable. I mean, if Microsoft elites cannot get the code to work properly, what kind of confidence does that give us partners?
Third, their presentations is outright horrible. They either reproduce information available freely on the web, or throw jargons at us. I thought that they will give us some insider news or tips that would help us or give us an edge over non partners. What is worse is that they can't even give correct or up-to-date information. Throughout the presentations, everyone refer to the next Office suite as Office 12 when Microsoft has already announced that it will be called Office 2007. Either they don't bother to change their slides, or they simply don't know!
Lastly, they have no sense of timing at all. Almost all their presentation overruns. They actually have people helping them keep track of time as the presentations run. This kind lady would hold up big flash cards reminding the speakers that there are 15 minutes left, 5 minutes left and times up etc. Most of the speakers just don't give a damn to the poor woman. What's worse is the speakers will go like "I am running out of time..." and "I have run out of time but let me quickly run through..." The best is this guy who came on 15 minutes past the supposed lunchtime at 1245hrs to "sell" Visual Studio Team System which is not on the agenda at all. He went "I know that I am the only thing standing between you and your lunch and I know everyone is hungry right now but..." He went on to talk for another 15 minutes.
The only two presenters are this Chewy Chong guy who is really funny and really good both technically and with getting the point across and this Hardman guy who make a excellent effort to make sure his demo works and also gives tips around problems he thinks we might encounter.
This event is a real waste of time. I left as soon as the rain stopped.

Lack of Updates
If you had been back constantly to check for updates, sorry! I was swamped with work last week and had to do OT three out of five days! I went down with blocked nose on Friday and slept for 18 hours on Saturday.
SO today is Origami Day, as I did the whole week's origami today! As you can see, I always adjust the date of the post to the day the event happened or was supposed to happened (and not the day I post all the entries), so that I can remember when it is supposed to be :P
Anyway, if you find checking my blog for updates a bother, please use the atom feed. If you are using Firefox, just click on the icon and you can add a "live bookmark" for my blog. If you only uses IE, tough luck! You will have to wait for IE7 to come out for a seamless syndicated new feed experience while the rest of us enjoy the convenient, not to mention the secured browsing experience. :P
Oh! If you are not using Windows XP, too bad, because IE7 is coming out for Windows XP and Windows Vista only. If you are using pirated Windows XP, tough luck too! Because IE7 will require you to verify that you are using a true copy of the Windows XP before they let you install IE7. There is no escape...

New Handphones
Raymond finally gotten a new Samsung X700! The high-res hi-color display is simply stunning. The bundled wallpapers looks so good! The bulit-in stereo speakers sounds very good. The user interface is responsive and intuitive to use, unlike a Motolora phone. In fact it feels like a Sony Ericsson cross with a iPod. The irriating i center button stills go to the internet when pressed on the home screen, but now serve as a okay button too on other pages. The camera takes wonderfully clear photos unlike my lousy O2 mini. This phone uses the new (maybe not so new, I mountain tortoise ok?) Transflash card which is so small (about 1 cm). I wonder if anyone drops it inside his ear? :P
Still on new handphone, paperd finally gotten a new handphone! And it is the newest model from Motorola somemore! The new Motorola Razr V3i with iTunes! It looks so cool in black shiny brush metal finish. The user interface is standard Motorola, except for the iTunes part which feels like, well iPod! :P Of course it also comes with the now standard features like color display, mp3 ringtones, web browser, MMS, camera and video cam. paperd was showing off the video cam features to us just now. I went like "Hello! We had been using video cam feature on our handphone for a year now...". papded must be the last of my friends who used a monochrome handphone!
Well, not anymore, he has the newest coolest iPod phone to boast about!
